About this journey
This is our 10-day Casablanca tour extended to cover the full country — north to Tangier at the tip of Africa where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, and west to Essaouira's Atlantic coast, in addition to Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, two nights in the Sahara, and Marrakech. It's the most complete single loop we run, and like the shorter Casablanca tours, it starts and ends at Mohammed V Airport. The extra days go north and to the coast: Tangier's kasbah and the Caves of Hercules, an extra buffer day for the long north-to-south drive, and a coastal finish in Essaouira — a former Portuguese trading port with a working fishing harbour and none of Marrakech's crowds — before the final drive back to Casablanca. This suits travellers with 10+ days who want to see Morocco's north, centre, desert and coast in one trip without piecing together multiple bookings, and repeat visitors who've done the shorter Casablanca loops and want the complete picture.

Day by day
Pick-up from Casablanca, stop at the Hassan II Mosque exterior, then on to Rabat for the Kasbah of the Udayas, Hassan Tower and Mohammed V Mausoleum. Overnight in Rabat.

Drive north along the Atlantic coast to Tangier. Afternoon visit to the Caves of Hercules, where the Mediterranean and Atlantic meet at Cape Spartel, followed by a walk through the Tangier kasbah as the sun sets over the strait.

Morning drive into the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, arriving by midday. The afternoon and evening are free to wander the blue-washed medina — the colour shifts noticeably between afternoon light and dusk.

A free morning in Chefchaouen (optional short hike to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint) before the afternoon drive to Fes, arriving in time for an orientation walk into the medina.

A full day in the largest car-free urban area in the world: the Chouara tannery, the Al-Qarawiyyin, the Nejjarine fondouk, and the souks, with your guide steering you away from the busiest tourist choke points.

Drive south through the Middle Atlas cedar forests around Ifrane and down into the Ziz Valley's palm groves, arriving Merzouga by late afternoon for a sunset camel trek into Erg Chebbi.

Sunrise dune climb, then a full free day at camp — options include visiting a Gnawa musician's family in Khamlia or a 4x4 trip to the black nomad tents, before a second night under the stars.

Drive west via Tinjdad and the Dades Valley, with a short gorge walk, before continuing to Aït Benhaddou for a walk through Morocco's best-known kasbah. Overnight near Ouarzazate.

Drive west to the Atlantic coast. Essaouira's medina is smaller and calmer than Marrakech's — a working fishing port, blue fishing boats, and ramparts you can walk for free. Afternoon and evening free to explore.

This adds Tangier and Cape Spartel in the north, and Essaouira on the Atlantic coast at the end — the two regions the 10-day version doesn't reach. Everything else (Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, two desert nights, Marrakech) is the same route.
It covers the north (Tangier, Chefchaouen), centre (Rabat, Fes, Marrakech), Sahara desert, and Atlantic coast (Essaouira) — the four regions most visitors want. You won't reach the Atlas trekking routes or the far south, which would need a dedicated separate trip.
This is our longest loop, so driving days are unavoidable — expect 2–5 hours on most travel days, with two longer legs (Rabat–Tangier and Fes–Merzouga, both around 6–7 hours with stops). We break up every long day with photo and meal stops.

March–May and September–November work well across all four regions covered. We suspend the desert nights in July–August due to extreme heat and substitute an alternative overnight stop.
